wwise x fmod: which middleware to use?

Last week I just got my certificate in Wwise 101 fundamentals. I have to say I used to like Fmod more because of the Design mostly. It’s very user-friendly for audio engineers since it looks like a DAW. As I’ve been searching for new positions as a sound design, I noticed Wwise has become the standard for the industry. Although, a lot of games studio’s are still using Fmod, most opening jobs gives emphasis for Wwise. One of the great aspects of Wwise is their focus on education. They are constantly updating their website with new content for their users. If you are just starting out they have a full course for free in Audiokinetic page , which I recommend you to check it out! It’s 4 different modules and it gives you a wild range of knowledge about what you can do with it. On the other hand, Fmod’s tutorials are very outdated. They update the software constantly which is great, the features for sure have improved. What I feel they are lacking mostly is communication with their users, updating new official tutorials would be great for instance. I’m very excited for using Wwise in new projects and keep studying it. I’m thinking about doing some tutorials comparing both middleware for learning purposes. Probably my next post will be something related to it.

Cheers, :)
